Ally Karpel is a rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College, where she expects to be ordained at the Los Angeles campus in 2026. Ally grew up in Dallas, TX and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2018, where she studied speech-language pathology and social work. There, she fully immersed herself in the Jewish community on campus, co-founding and facilitating the Texas Hillel Bella Abzug Social Justice Fellowship, serving as president of the University Interfaith Council, and serving as a Hebrew Union College Founders’ Fellow. Prior to rabbinical school, Ally worked as a Legislative Assistant at the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, where she led federal advocacy efforts around economic justice, labor rights, disability rights, gender-based violence, and reproductive rights. Later, she mobilized Jewish clergy and lay leaders around reproductive rights as the Campaign Organizer of the WRJ-RAC Reproductive Health & Rights Campaign. When she is not on the bima or at a rally, Ally enjoys exploring nature, reading poetry, and belting show tunes in the car.
